Tianjin Civil Affairs Bureau holds a promoting meeting to carry out 20 projects for people, which conclude the construction of old-care facilities. This year, 20 day-care service centers for old people will be set up for the first time in model communities. The facilities like activity room for old people will be built in 100 communities that live more than 6,000 people.

According to the result of a random survey in 12,000 urban residents at the beginning of this year, 79.4% people said that they really need to have old-care facilities in their communities. Also they asked for being offered community service for old people, who would become the chief task in community construction and new expectation for common people in the new situation. It’s very important to specifically list speeding up the construction of old-age-care facilities in these 20 projects. Setting up day-care service centers for old people can offer nearby and convenient service. It’s a key form to live and get old in the community, and it’s significant for constructing old-care system in Tianjin.

The short-term goal of constructing day-care service centers for old people in communities is: This year, 20 day-care service centers for old people will be set up for the first time in model communities. And the facilities like activity room for old people will be built in 100 communities that live more than 6,000 people. The long-term goal is as the following: there will be 1,120 communities that is 80% all over the urban ones and 1,920 villages that is 50% in the city. They will be facilitated with day-care service centers by 2015. All the communities and villages will get them by 2020.

 According to the short-term goal, the task of all local districts in 2008 will be set as follow: First, every district of the six urban districts should finish 1-2 ones, and the rest local ones should finish one for the 20 projects. Second, every district of the six urban districts should finish at least 10 ones, the seven districts including Tanggu, Hangu, Dagang, Dongli, Jinnan, Xiqing and Beichen should finish at least 4 ones, and the five including Wuqing, Baodi, Jinghai, Ninghe and Ji should finish at least 2. They are for the 100 projects. Also, according to the long-term goal, the new construction tasks will be discussed and distribute by steps, and then be put into construction.
