The Rescuing rehabilitation project on children with hearing disability by China Disabled Persons’ Federation is begun to implemented July 6th, 2009. In 2009, Chinese government will put 400 million RMB in cochlear implantation for children with hearing disability and rehabilitation training after operation.

The project is plan to provide free cochlear implantation for 1500 children (1 to 6 years old) with strong hearing disability in poor families from 2009 to 2011 and complete rehabilitation training after operation before 2012. At the Same time, 9000 children (0-6 years old) with hearing disability can get free hearing aids and subsidies of rehabilitation training. Applicants can ask for consultation and apply in local Disabled Persons’ Federation. The application has no residence restrictions.

At present, appointed hospitals and rehabilitation centers for the first group of children with hearing disability in the project has been confirmed. Free operation of will be done by Peking Union medical College Hospital.
