China Social Work Association reported that the first national large-scale socialized endowment project—Aiwan project has been started. Public welfare nursing homes chain will be built in 20 cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Haerbin etc. The first one has been started to build in Qingdao.

 

“Aiwan” nursing homes are to build aged nursing homes and integrated collocation facilities, besides that, it also will achieve national interactivities. Senior person once become a member of that, he/she can enjoy migrant nursing service from “Aiwan” of other cities. Furthermore, these basements will help poor and those who can take care of themselves through Charities Aid Foundation.

 

At present, the first nursing basement are under construction in Qingdao and other cities such as Beijing are also in planning stage. As introduction, Aiwan Qingdao center was invested 1,3 billion RMB, covers area of 500 Mu. It can solve 10 thousand aged persons’ nursing problem until the end of 2011 after the center be finished.

 

 

The largest nursing home named the third Social Welfare Home of Changning district is being started to construct in ChangNing district Shanghai, which is an importance step to advance “The happiness of provide for the aged”.

This nursing home invested by Changning government is a comprehensive and high-quality nursing home ,which is located in west side of Xiehe road in Changning district and covers an area of 14910㎡.After completion, it can provide almost 1000 beds for old persons.

With the social and economic development, the problem of population aging is becoming more serious, which results in high demand of nursing home.

 

 

In order to promote the development of nursing institutes in Shenyang city, Shenyang government has already provided a loan of 400 million RMB

to nursing institutes. This is the first case that government provides such 400 million to nursing institutes.

 

Two big nursing institutes will be established at the end of this year. One is in Changbai island with over 1000 beds and 320 standard apartments. All of these apartment will be facilitated with barrier-free kitchen, dinning room and bathroom. The other is the second program of Yingdazhen Nursing institutes equipped with 1600 beds.

 

Nowadays, the population of the elderly in China is 169 million which is 11.6 percent of the whole Chinese population. Meanwhile the number in Shenyang is 1.19 million and 15.3 percent of the whole population of Shenyang.

 

It is reported that there are over 40,000 nursing institutes and over 2 million beds. Meanwhile, there are 157 nursing institutes and 16,734 beds.
